During the presentation in the Czech Hradec Kralove, we had the opportunity to learn about the novelties of the Tracer family, which will surely appeal to those who are looking for adventures, but at the same time expect a good package of equipment at a reasonable price.
What does the new Tracer 7 GT and Yamaha 9 and 9 GTs for 2021 have on board?
The first to come to the rescue is the Yamaha Tracer 7 GT, which is the trim level of the Tracer 7. The motorcycle is powered by a 689cc engine with linear torque build-up, and the manufacturer claims that it is the most successful engine in Yamaha’s history. The two-cylinder CP2 engine has proven itself for many years both in the city MT series and in the touring Tracer. Of course, the most important accessory for the Tracer 7 GT are the panniers. The manufacturer has equipped the motorcycle with side cases with a capacity of 20 liters, which perfectly fit into the line of the motorcycle and will make you pack your bags for every journey. The standard windshield has been replaced with an accessory one, which is 92 mm higher and 70 mm wider, and also has a manual adjustment. The manufacturer has increased the comfort thanks to the use of a new seat filled with foam of various densities. Both the front and rear suspensions are adjustable for preload and rebound damping, which will allow you to adjust its characteristics to the load and riding style. The motorcycle is available in three colors – Tech Kamo, Redline and Icon Gray and it costs around €10k
Now it’s time for the Yamaha Tracer 9 and Tracer 9 GT main course. Compared to the Tracer 900, we are talking about a real revolution. Of course, the motorcycle is powered by a three-cylinder CP3 engine, which has increased power to 119 hp and torque is 93 Nm. Another thing that you just need to pay attention to is the design, which is not only glamorous, but also effective. The most interesting element are the side fairings, which have been designed not only to provide excellent aerodynamics, but also have been made in such a way that on warmer days they will cool the legs. The new generation also includes a new, stiffer Deltabox aluminum frame. The swingarm has also been changed and has been extended by 64 mm. This combines high speed stability with sporty agility. Additionally, the front fork is fully adjustable.
Interesting things also happened in terms of electronics. The manufacturer used a six-axis Inertial Unit (IMU) that controls aids in the form of a traction control system, a slip control system, a front wheel lift control system and a brake control system. The information is shown on two TFT displays, each with a diagonal of 3.5 “. On the right side there are additional information and on the left – on settings, speed and revolutions.
Of course, it is natural for the GT version of the Tracer 9 to arrive, where a lot of interesting options await us. The most important of these is the semi-active, fully adjustable KYB suspension. For this we have side cases with a total capacity of 40 liters. The gearbox has a quickshifter (QSS) that allows you to shift up and down gears without using the clutch. Thanks to the six-axis inertial module, it was possible to use a cornering lighting system that activates at a speed of over 5 km / h and an inclination of more than 7 degrees. Comfort is enhanced by ten-stage heated grips.
Yamaha Tracer 9 will appear in Redline and Tech Kamo colors. The price of the motorcycle is €12,499 The GT version will cost €14,599 and will be available in Icon Performance, Tech Kamo and Redline colors.
